Following Hutton Reserves recent Essex cup final the double was on the cards with a short trip back to Heybridge Swifts, with many changes to the team it also bought huge opportunity for those that missed out last time to bring home a trophy.
With 6 changes from the last final the team got off to a amazing start with a goal within 25 seconds from Kye Smith, a well worked passing move down the right hand side got us into a good position and a cross from Luke Haydon was headed home from Kye for his 27th of the season.
Beacon Hill had the better of the ball with a way of playing that made Hutton change formation to stop the threat, that didn’t happen as on 32 mins a goal from Beacon Hill, beating his man on the left hand side before driving into the box and smashing home. 1-1
Hutton kept trying to create opportunity’s but a sold Beacon Hill defence kept us at bay. On 43 mins the ball on the right hand side was well worked into a crossing position where Price crossed in for Cook with the defeatist of touches scores Hutton 2nd and also he 2nd header of the game.
Both 6ft plus CB should be disappointed with Ron Cook being 5ft 5 and raising highest.
Half time came around and went with changes made to ensure Hutton kept it tight. Beacon tested Huttons resolve with lots of crosses into the box, nothing really fo note to say about the 2nd half, Hutton defended for their lives with a massive save from Goalkeeper Archie Field on the 79th Minute. Shot from distance took a deflection and was saved superbly…
With the game going into the final minutes and added time Hutton managed the game well, on 90+4 a ball won by Luke Haydon in middle was driven forward, after 4 fouls the ball eventually fell to Kye Smith who drove at the goal and finished in the bottom left hand corner and left the Hutton fans in jubilation.
Luke Haydon and Jon Hilliard lifted the cup and Hutton Reserves complete a Cup Double and finish the season with Promotion also.
A huge thanks to all the mascots that came over, we hope you enjoyed the game and had a good evening.
